Making a name for himself in go-karts he won over 20 features, a Rookie of the Year title, an award for outstanding accomplishments in go-karting, and two championships.

In 1987 he started racing in the Grand Stock division at Langley Speedway. With in the first season he won three races, Rookie of the Year, and finished 4th in the year's points standings. He continued to race in the Grand Stock division for the next two years, winning several more races, and finished 3rd in the season point standings.

In 1991 Greg moved onto racing Late Model Stock Cars. He ran up front right from the beginning winning one race, earning 4 poles, and Rookie of the Year honors. That same season he was named Most Improved Driver, received the Best Pit Crew Award, and finished 6th in the point standings. Since his rookie year in 1991, he has won over 35 feature events, finished 2nd in the championship points twice, and earned “Late Model Stock Car Points Champion” in 1998.

Edwards even got a shot at the Busch Series in September of 1997. The following year, Greg ran in the ASA (American Speed Association) Touring Series. He would only get a two-year run in the series (from 2001 to 2003) due to the series demise in 2004. With no other division racing the same cars and setup, he returned to his home track, Langley Speedway in Hampton, Virginia so he could regroup and look for a new ride.

During the off-season for racing in 2003, Greg also joined other local drivers in the first year of the Arena Racing USA Series. In his first attempt at the new series, Edwards gained the title as the first ever “National Champion.”

Edwards’ motivation, determination, and racing skills have proved to be rewarding and now he is ready to move up into a touring series for 2007.
