Dodge’s Dominated the Podium 1-2-3 at Langley Speedway
The Crossroads Fuels Late Model’s qualified for tonight’s 75 Lap Race. Greg Edwards qualified on the pole and Danny Edwards qualified third. After the wheel spin of eight, both brothers were inverted from their original qualifying spots for the start in their Dodge Chargers. Greg stayed in eighth as Danny was to move to sixth. Just before qualifying, the 26 crew inspected the tires and found them to be unfit to run. They returned the tires to the Tech Shed for inspection. The Officials and other drivers inspected the tires and agreed that they were unfit to run and four fresh tires were put on the car. This put Danny to start fifteenth and Greg in seventh for the race.
On the start, Ashley Fair of Fair Distributing (an Edwards Motorsports Sponsor) dropped the green flag in celebration of her 21st Birthday. The flag waived green and the 26 started to make his way up through pack. By the fifth lap, Greg put the 27 nose under the 21 and moved into sixth. Four laps later, the No. 6 of Bubba Adams spun in turn 2 bringing out the first caution of the night. Danny was sitting ninth and Greg in sixth for the restart.
On the restart, Danny shot under the 34 of Paul Debolt as Greg came up beside the 48 of Shawn Balluzzo, both brother were battling for positions in unison for two laps until the second caution came out when the No. 6 spun once again in turn 2. The brothers held their gained positions for the restart – Danny in eighth and Greg in fifth.
Back to green and the brothers were back at it. Greg was gaining on the 22 of J.J. Jensen as brother Danny battled to get in the top five ducking under the 21 of Anthony Warren. The Edwards brothers were making their way to front of the pack one by one. By lap 25, the brother’s were nose to tail. Greg stayed ahead of his brother but it wasn’t long before Danny moved his way under his brother Greg for fourth.
With 37 laps on the board, Danny continued to barrel his way through and grabbed the third spot from the No. 40 of Mark Wertz in turn 4. Six more laps around and Danny slid ahead of the 29 of Casey Wyatt. One lap more and brother Greg took his 27 under the 40 for fourth. Danny now in second and Greg in fourth.
Danny was in hot pursuit to take the lead as he stayed on the bumper of Jeff Sampson in the No. 8 and by lap 63 he made his way under Sampson in turn 3. With the 26 nose at the door of the 8 car, Sampson came down hard as if he were clear. The 26 swayed side-to-to side as the 8 came down in a spin. Danny pulled up high trying not to make contact and barely cleared the 8 as they entered turn four.
On the restart, Danny took the lead leaving nearly five car lengths between him and the No. 29. As Danny pushed ahead, Greg came knocking at the door of the 29 car. By lap 66, Greg made his way under the 29 as the 40 of Mark Wertz came along with him. All three Dodge’s were now making up the top three and they stuck together for the finish.
1-2-3 for Dodge’s! Greg and Mark took their Dodge’s to Dale Lemonds Victory Lane as Danny took his 26 once around for his first victory lap of the season. The race finished with Danny 1st, Greg 2nd and Mark 3rd. Ironically, the Dodge’s also hold the top three positions in track points –Greg, Danny, Mark!
