Top Five’s for the Edwards Brothers at Langley Speedway

During Time Trials, Greg Edwards (No. 27) qualified first and Danny Edwards (No. 26) qualified third. After the wheel spin of six, the brothers would start tonight’s 75 Lap Race with Greg in sixth and Danny fourth. Just before the races commenced, Greg was awarded the Bathfitters Pole Award.

On the start, Greg was on the outside of the No. 40 of Mark Wertz and Danny was on the outside just in front. Wertz jumped ahead and Greg came with him; putting Greg now in fourth and Danny in fifth.

With 25 laps on the board, Greg made his way under the 01 of Jeff Shiflett in turn 2 and stayed under him on the back stretch but Shiflett pulled ahead as they made their way into turn 3. Seven laps later and Danny was making his way under Greg as they entered turn 3. The brothers ran side-by-side for two laps until Greg shot out ahead and they were back in formation. Just five more laps and Danny was making his move once again. He nosed the 26 down to the apron of the track and made his way under the 27. Once again, the brothers were side-by-side until they got caught up in lap traffic. With Danny on the inside, Greg made his way past the lap traffic and cleared them out front as Danny had to duck in behind Greg once more.

Danny was not backing down from trying to make a run at his brother to move up the field. The brother’s fought to hold their positions until the very end. The 26 came under the 27 five times in 75 laps. The Edwards brothers kept their fans on the edge of their sets as they battled it out for the fourth and fifth place finishes for tonight’s race.

Consistently finishing in the top 5 has certainly paid off for the Edwards brothers thus far. Danny and Greg are still in 2nd and 3rd (respectively) for the official track’s point standings. There are fourteen races on the board and the last point’s race on October 7th; that leaves only eight races to go for the Track Championship.
